Job Description:

We are seeking an experienced Unix Administrator with strong expertise in Unix Shell scripting, Linux administration, and programming skills in Perl and Python. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 5+ years of hands-on experience managing Unix/Linux systems, automating tasks through shell scripts, and performing system-level troubleshooting and maintenance. You will play a critical role in ensuring the reliability, performance, and security of our Unix/Linux infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities:

• System Administration : Manage, configure, and maintain Unix/Linux-based systems ensuring optimal performance, uptime, and security.

• Shell Scripting : Develop and maintain custom Unix Shell scripts for automating administrative tasks, system monitoring, and reporting.

• Scripting in Perl & Python : Create, modify, and optimize scripts in Perl and Python for automation, data processing, and system management.

• Monitoring and Maintenance : Regularly monitor system performance, identify issues, and take appropriate corrective actions to ensure system stability and reliability.

• Security & Compliance : Implement security best practices on Unix/Linux systems, including regular updates, patch management, and vulnerability assessments.

• Backup & Recovery : Implement and manage backup strategies, ensure data integrity, and perform recovery procedures as required.

• User Management : Manage user accounts, permissions, and file systems, ensuring proper access control.

• Performance Tuning : Identify performance bottlenecks and implement solutions to optimize system performance.

• Troubleshooting : Analyze, troubleshoot, and resolve issues related to system performance, networking, and hardware failures.

• Collaboration : Work closely with development teams, network administrators, and other stakeholders to support IT infrastructure and improve system efficiency.

Required Skills:

• 5+ years of experience in Unix/Linux system administration.

• Expert-level proficiency in Unix Shell scripting.

• Strong programming skills in Perl and Python .

• In-depth knowledge of Linux operating systems (e.g., Red Hat, Ubuntu, CentOS).

• Experience with system monitoring tools (e.g., Nagios, Zabbix).

• Familiarity with networking concepts and protocols (TCP/IP, DNS, SSH, etc.).

• Strong understanding of security best practices, including firewalls, access controls, and patch management.

• Experience with automation and configuration management tools (e.g., Ansible, Puppet).

• Solid troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud).

• Knowledge of DevOps tools and practices.

• Familiarity with database management and backup tools (MySQL, PostgreSQL).

• Certifications in Unix/Linux systems administration (RHCSA, RHCE, CompTIA Linux+).

Soft Skills:

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

• Ability to work independently and in a team.

• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.

• Ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple projects simultaneously.

Education:

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
