UPMC is hiring a part-time Supported Employment Specialist to support Western Behavioral Health at Mon Yough.

\n

The incumbent is primarily responsible for carrying out the services of the supported employment program by assisting consumers in obtaining and maintaining employment that is consistent with their vocational goals and recovery.

\n

While this role is based in McKeesport, the incumbent will spend the majority of working hours in the field supporting clients throughout Allegheny County. A work vehicle is available for work-related travel. The incumbent will primarily work daylight hours, but flexibility is required to accommodate clients. The ideal candidate will have strong communication skills and will be able to work well independently.

Responsibilities:

  • Partner with consumers in job development, search, and sustaining employment.
  • \n
  • Engage and support consumers, families, and employers in the community.
  • \n
  • Complete and maintain required documentation.
  • \n
  • Train and assist other employment specialists.
  • \n
  • Assess consumers' vocational functioning and match their interests and strengths with jobs.
  • \n
  • Educate and support employers, including negotiating job accommodations.
  • \n
  • Build trusting relationships for competitive employment and integrate vocational services with mental health treatment.
  • \n
  • Develop and update vocational service plans with the treatment team.
  • \n
  • Accompany consumers to job-related activities and provide outreach to re-engage them.
  • \n
  • Complete staff development training.
  • \n
  • Adhere to UPMC's mission, vision, and policies.
  • \n

· Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university, preferably in Counseling, Psychology, Vocational Rehabilitation, or other human service field, including at least 12 credit hours in human services related education, and with 1 year of related experience working with individuals with disabilities or mental health related experience.

\n

· Experience with people with severe mental illness, experience with vocational services, and knowledge of the work world are preferred.

\n

· Ability to work as an effective team player is essential.

\n

· Ability to work flexible hours, which may include evenings/weekends/holidays.

\n

· Basic computer skills.

\n

Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:

\n

· Basic Life Support (BLS) OR Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)

\n

· Comprehensive Crisis Management (CCMC)

\n

· Driver's License

\n
