Why this role?
As the Senior Accounting Manager , you will be the first dedicated hire in Accounting at Twelve Labs. You will play a critical role in bringing the accounting function in house over time, implementing key systems in the financial systems stack, preparing board materials and managing cash. This role will report to the Head of Finance and have visibility and exposure to the founders and rest of the executive team. You will be the in house accounting expert with an opportunity to up-level the entire executive team’s accounting knowledge.
A typical day at Twelve Labs for this role would look like this:
Manage the close process in partnership with our external accounting firms. Over time this person will have the opportunity to lead the transition of externally managed accounting to internally managed.
Oversee accounts payable, employee reimbursements, accounts receivable and other working capital tasks
Develop a financial systems roadmap with the Head of Finance along with leading or contributing to the implementation of any of those systems
Collaborate with the Head of Finance the executive team on accounting policies (e.g. Revenue Recognition policy) while ensuring all policies are in compliance with the appropriate accounting standards (e.g. ASC 606)
Take on ad hoc / unplanned projects from a wide range of areas such as Cost of Revenue, Stock Based Comp or Treasury
Prepare Twelve Labs for its first audit sometime in the future
This role might be for you if you have some of the following:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field; CPA preferred but does not need to be active
7+ years of accounting experience at a software company, ideally some of this experience at an early stage startup
Strong knowledge of GAAP accounting policies including revenue recognition, stock based compensation and transfer pricing.
Experience consolidating financials for multi-entity & multi-currency businesses
Proficiency with NetSuite or comparable ERP system and experience implementing such an ERP
Exceptional attention to detail
Eagerness to learn about state of the art multi-modal foundation models
Willingness to come to our San Francisco (Jackson Square) office at least 3 days per week.
