Senior Chemical Engineer – Oil Recovery & Industrial Wastewater

Key Responsibilities

• Process Design & Optimization:
  • Design, develop, and optimize processes for oil/water separation and industrial wastewater treatment, focusing on mass transfer and energy balances .
  • Develop Process Flow Diagrams (PFDs) and Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs) for capital improvement projects.
• Technical Oversight:
  • Conduct feasibility studies, process simulations, and economic evaluations.
  • Serve as an internal SME in oil recovery and wastewater treatment technologies.
• Capital Projects & Vendor Management:
  • Specify and procure process equipment and instrumentation in coordination with vendors.
  • Oversee project planning, construction, commissioning, and startup.
• Compliance & Troubleshooting:
  • Ensure compliance with process safety standards and environmental regulations.
  • Troubleshoot operational issues and implement corrective actions.
• Collaboration:
  • Work with cross-functional teams in operations, engineering, and maintenance.

Qualifications

• Education:
  • B.S. or M.S. in Chemical Engineering or Petroleum Engineering .
• Experience:
  • Minimum 8+ years in roles such as Process Engineer, Project Engineer, or Project Manager in petroleum refining , oil recovery , industrial wastewater treatment , or similar industries.
  • Hands-on experience with heat and mass transfer systems, evaporation , and distillation columns .
  • Familiarity with industrial wastewater treatment processes like oil/water separations , thermal/chemical treatment , and metals precipitation .
• Technical Skills:
  • Proficiency in process simulation software (Aspen Plus, HYSYS).
  • Knowledge of PFDs , P&IDs , and engineering standards (ASME, API).
  • AutoCAD experience is a plus.
  • Strong multitasking, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Compensation & Benefits

• Salary Range: $140,000–$160,000 per year, with bonus incentives.

• Travel Expectations: Minimal, less than 10%.
