PLC Automation Engineer

Hoffman Development is a local family-owned company that operates the Hoffman Car Wash and innovateIT brands. Founded in 1965, Hoffman Development has been a leading provider of automotive car washes and services in the Capital Region. Hoffman Development is seeking a PLC Automation Engineer to join our growing Information Technology Team to assist with our continued business expansion. This is a Wednesday through Sunday work schedule.

Responsibilities

• Provide on-site and remote technical support during startup and new installations
• Maintain existing IO documentation and audit existing documentation
• Perform routine PLC backups
• Coordinate installation and testing of new PLC car wash equipment
• Update car wash ladder logic and structured text for feature additions, bug fixes, and general diagnostics
• Diagnose problems in control circuits up to 24V
• Assist with Ethernet wiring for Ethernet/IP VFD control and PLC connectivity
• Maintain and troubleshoot HMI Displays

Requirements

Required:

• Associate Degree or higher in Electrical Engineering/Mechatronics or related field is preferred.
• Requires proficiency in automation software, i.e. Allen Bradley, Logix5000/ Studio5000, Omron CX, Omron Sysmac Studio
• Able to work on multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced, energetic environment and manage competing priorities. Strong planning and organizational skills
• Ability to read and produce wiring diagrams and other documentation
• Basic understanding of variable-frequency drives (VFD)

Preferred:

• 2 or more years of experience with electrical controls, hydraulic, pneumatic systems, electric drives, HMI Programming (Omron preferred), and digital control systems
• Previous experience with networking the following platforms: Ethernet, TCP/IP, Serial, DeviceNet
• Experience with PLC Database Connections
