Our TPO Division is looking to hire a Non-QM JR Underwriter I .

ALL REMOTE POSITIONS REQUIRE A DOWNLOAD SPEED OF NO LESS THAN 50 MBPS.

Job Title: Non-QM Underwriter

Reports To: NQM UW Team Lead/TPO UW Manager

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

Department: TPO Underwriting

Division: TPO

Salary: $75K to $80K plus bonus

Summary: Responsible for reviewing each mortgage file for an applicant’s work history, credit history, and all liabilities and assets contained on a mortgage loan application, along with any other information required for loan decision.

Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

1. Complete thorough manual analysis of mortgage loan files to determine compliance with company and investor guidelines and matrices to ensure salability of closed loans.
2. Analyzing loan risk and requesting additional documentation as necessary.
3. Reviewing loan conditions as resubmitted.
4. Making loan eligibility decisions by approving or rejecting loans, documenting the loan file appropriately and communicating the decisions effectively to all necessary parties.
5. Calculate the borrower’s income and analyze their ability to repay the mortgage obligation.
6. Ensure one all information is gathered that it is accurate, compliance standards are met, and the decision is in line with company policies and guidelines.
7. Maintain company service level and turn-time standards.
8. Respond to audits and post-closing issues in a timely manner.
9. Maintain working knowledge of Non-QM, TPO and/or NDC guidelines and policies.
10. Request exceptions and scenarios as needed.
11. Submit initial file and conditions to investor when necessary. Regularly check status of files with investor for completion of exceptions, initial review, and conditions cleared.
12. Mentor operations staff on underwriting deficiencies and calculation errors.
13. Performs other related duties as assigned.

  • Working knowledge of Microsoft office

• • 5+ years prior underwriting experience
  • Non-QM underwriting experience preferred
  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred
