SummaryofPosition: The Instructional Designer for Apprenticeships will support faculty in delivering high-quality instructional models tailored to Registered and Certified Pre-apprenticeships. This individual will work closely with faculty and the Business & Industry Services (BIS) team to develop micro-credentials, enhance apprenticeship pathways for K-12 students and adult learners, and address the workforce development needs of rural regions. The Learning Assessment Coordinator will work collaboratively with the ARRIVE Project Manager to attend regional employer workshops, collaborate with K-12 schools, and develop feedback systems to ensure courses, curriculum, and assessments are aligned to apprenticeship outcomes.

This is an LTE position with an end date of Aug 31, 2028.

This is a hybrid eligible position that would allow for 2-3 days a week working from home after the training period.

Essential Functions


1. Maintain and uphold the College values of Learning, Excellence, Accountability, Diversity, Student Success, Teamwork, Integrity, and Respect. Regular attendance is required.
2. Complete all required College training and be responsible for maintaining the skills necessary to complete the essential functions of the position as defined by the department.
3. Student Success if the cornerstone of Western's culture and the college may assign employees as needed to other areas or additional duties to foster this success.
4. Program Administration - Supporting Action/Task May Include:
  • Work with faculty, BIS, and academic departments to design and implement micro-credentials aligned with apprenticeship pathways, ensuring they meet industry needs and shorten the credentialing time for both K-12 and adult learners.
  • Research apprenticeship opportunities within and across the Western district to identify potential offerings.
  • Examine effective apprenticeships and certified pre-apprenticeship offerings by other colleges within the Wisconsin Technical College System
  • Integrate degree and degree connected registered apprenticeship programs in fields such as manufacturing, healthcare, education, and IT
  • Ensure that micro-credentials align with the standards of Registered Apprenticeships and Certified Pre-apprenticeships, including Youth Apprenticeship programs in high schools.
  • Attend events with regional employers to identify skills gaps, workforce needs, and apprenticeship opportunities.
5. Faculty Support- Supporting Action/Task May Include:
  • Articulate instructional and assessment strategies that support apprenticeship-based learning and competency-based education.
  • Collaborate with K-12 partners to co-design pathways that provide high school students with early access to apprenticeship models and recognized credentials.
  • Collaborate with faculty members to address teaching and learning needs related to apprenticeship models, ensuring instructional practices align with industry standards and competencies.
  • Provide guidance and resources to faculty for effective apprenticeship-based teaching methodologies and assessments.
  • Assist faculty in integrating hands-on, experiential learning into apprenticeship programs.

Qualifications


Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree in related field with 3 yrs. occupational experience OR
  • Education in related field combined with related occupational experience totaling 7 yrs. OR
  • Related Occupational experience totaling 7 yrs.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • 5 years experience
  • Master's degree in education
  • Experience with apprenticeships models
  • Experience with CTE instruction and assessment

Starting annual/hourly salary range based on education and experience: $55,299 - $72,331
