Sand Hospitality is currently seeking an experience HR Generalist to join our team! The HR Generalist is primarily responsible for aligning the Hospitality Division business objectives with Associates and the management team. The position serves as a consultant to management on human resource-related issues. The successful Generalist acts as an Associate champion and change agent. Communicating proactively with management, HR department and payroll/benefits staff. The position formulates partnerships to deliver value-added service to management and Associates that reflects the business objectives of the organization. The Generalist maintains an effective level of business literacy about the business midrange plans, its culture, and its competition.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  1. Consults with HR Manager, front-line management, and Sand Hospitality Leadership team, providing HR guidance when appropriate. Identifies needs, problems, and opportunities, gathers, and interprets information, shares perspectives, generates alternatives, chooses appropriate action, and commits to the plan, involves others as needed.
  2. Oversees the implementation and adherence to full life-cycle recruitment strategies for all hospitality related positions. The HR Generalist will assist the hospitality leadership team in conducting management phone interviews, extend job offers, coordinate pre-employment requirements, and conduct new hire onboarding orientation as needed. Research and recommend alternative recruitment methods. Works with HR team to advertise and promote open positions through a variety of methods. Coordinates the placement of alternative/temporary staff, including J-1 and H2B Visas.
  3. Under guidance of the HR Manager, conducts effective, thorough, and objective workplace investigations. Interprets policies and provides training and guidance to managers at the property level.
  4. Maintains in-depth knowledge of legal requirements related to day-to-day management of Associates, reducing legal risks, and ensuring regulatory compliance. Partners with HR Manager and Risk Manager as needed/required.
  5. Provides day-to-day performance management guidance to management staff (coaching, counseling, career development, corrective actions). Partners with HR Manager on termination after executing employment separations.
  6. Assists in developing policies/procedures for assigned business unit and keeps forms and internal processes updated. Communicates changes with other HR Associates.
  7. Works closely with payroll, benefits, and HR Manager in a supporting role, to ensure timeliness and accuracy of all Associate transactions including new hires, terminations, status change, address changes, performance reviews, bonus payouts, bi-weekly payroll preparation and wage surveys as needed.
  8. Works closely with Benefits Coordinator when necessary to complete benefits enrollments/terminations and administering leaves of absence for Associates.
  9. Works with HR Manager, Benefits Coordinator, and hotel managers to promote a safe and healthy work environment. Assisting, when necessary, with all workers’ compensation claims within the designated business segment.
  10. Aids HR Manager and/or takes a lead role on any special projects as needed (acquisitions, divestures, leadership meetings, special projects, etc.).
  11. Ensures Associate files are maintained according to local, state, and federal employment laws. Adheres to established HR retention guidelines and participates in annual file retention process.
  12. Coordinates, or assists in the coordination of company events such as health and wellness, holiday parties, safety committee, summer picnics and town hall meetings.
  13. Represents the company through community involvement and participation in professional networking opportunities.
  14. Performs other duties/projects as assigned.

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:

Associates degree required; bachelor’s degree preferred.

Minimum of 3 years of Human Resources experience

Working knowledge of multiple human resource disciplines, including employee relations, compensation practices, diversity, talent acquisition, performance management and federal, state, and local employment laws.

SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP Certification preferred.

OTHER CONSIDERATIONS

Position requires minimal travel and a valid Class D license.
