Job Description

General Atomics (GA), and its affiliated companies, is one of the world’s leading resources for high-technology systems development ranging from the nuclear fuel cycle to remotely piloted aircraft, airborne sensors, and advanced electric, electronic, wireless and laser technologies.

This position is responsible for managing the business continuity program(s) and associated strategies for the Company. This includes but is not limited to emergency response and recovery, crisis communications, policy and procedure development, and training delivery. Develops expert interpretations of analyzed data and presents conclusions and recommendations to senior and executive staff. Typically accomplishes objectives through subordinate management and/or professional staff. May be responsible for decisions that have an extended and significant impact on outcomes.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  1. Manages the development and implementation of crisis management, business continuity, and emergency response policies, procedures, and programs.
  2. Develops, maintains and tests plans to ensure appropriate and effective response.
  3. Serves as the primary liaison between engineering, manufacturing, facilities, information technology services, compliance, environmental health and safety, and other departments to ensure appropriate strategies and solutions are developed and implemented to mitigate risk.
  4. Develops crisis management plans for recovery decision making and communications, continuity of processes, or temporary shut-down.
  5. Develops, conducts and debriefs mock-disaster exercises to test adequacy of existing plans and strategies; modifies procedures and plans as required.
  6. Identifies opportunities and makes recommendations for tactical and strategic improvement and/or mitigation of risk.
  7. Maintains awareness of new/changing laws/regulations and continually reviews and monitors the status of all business continuity policies, procedures, and programs to ensure they are in compliance with appropriate regulations and meeting the needs of the organization.
  8. Develops expert interpretations of analyzed data and presents conclusions and recommendations to senior and executive staff.
  9. Manages the planning, recruitment, selection, retention, and development of human resources to ensure the availability of the required management and professional talent.
  10. Typically accomplishes objectives through subordinate management and/or professional staff.
  11. Responsible for ensuring all laws, regulations, and other applicable obligations are observed wherever and whenever business is conducted on behalf of the Company.
  12. May be responsible for decisions that have an extended and significant impact on outcomes.
  13. Maintains the strict confidentiality of sensitive information.
  14. Performs other duties as assigned.

Job Qualifications:
  1. Typically requires a Bachelor's degree in business administration or related field, and thirteen or more years progressive experience in business continuity.
  2. Equivalent experience may be substituted in lieu of education.
  3. Must have extensive expertise in the application of relevant business continuity concepts and practices.
  4. Must possess:
    • extensive experience managing relationships with external agencies;
    • the ability to articulate and write in a clear and concise fashion, effectively communicate at all levels of the organization including executive management, and facilitate difficult discussions;
    • strong leadership, interpersonal, and management skills with the ability to build and sustain a successful team; and
    • the ability to interpret and explain complex issues.
  5. Utilizes MS Office Suite and other applications.
  6. Must be able to work extended hours as necessary and travel as required.
  7. May require ability to have or obtain a security clearance(s).
Salary: $125,810 - $229,670 #J-18808-Ljbffr
